Gameplay Overview
INDIKA is a third-person adventure game that transports players to an alternate version of Russia. As you explore this surreal landscape, you'll face a diverse array of puzzles, from basic tasks like locating keys to more intricate challenges such as navigating through a hellish environment conjured by the devil. Faith System
Indika earns Faith Points through actions like lighting candles for saint statues or collecting religious relics. Accumulating Faith Points allows her to level up and choose from various skills, each designed to enhance her ability to earn more points.
8-Bit Segments
Indika’s past unfolds through 8-bit segments, where the visuals take on a retro style, and the gameplay shifts. One moment, you're navigating a platformer to reach a room in a building; the next, you're racing through Indika’s childhood home.
Puzzles
The puzzles in INDIKA come in two main forms. The first involves intricate overworld challenges, such as deciphering clues or patterns to progress, like locating a large key for a clockwork mechanism or figuring out how to activate an elevator. The second type arises from Indika’s hallucinations, triggered when she commits a grave sin.
These segments plunge her into a hellish landscape created by the Evil One, where she must escape a perilous area. To break free, Indika uses prayers to dispel the devil's illusions and restore reality. Navigating between realms, players must guide her through obstacles and challenges to find safety amidst the chaos.
INDIKA Story
INDIKA Plot
The plot of INDIKA centers on a young nun named Indika. At first glance, she appears to be an ordinary nun—humble and innocent—but don't be fooled—Indika is grieving over past wrongdoings that haunt her and her most unlikely friend—the devil—with whom she can somehow converse mentally.
Furthermore, it appears that Indika's environment becomes warped and horrific when she gives in to the devil's temptations and listens to him. Her connection with the Evil One facilitates her voyage beyond the secure confines of the monastery and into the alternate Russia of the 19th century. She is on a self-discovery journey filled with tragedy and comedy.
INDIKA Characters
Indika
Indika, the main protagonist, is a young nun struggling to adapt to life in the monastery, a path forced upon her by her family. She is haunted by the voice of the Devil in her mind, constantly belittling her. Despite these challenges, Indika is a courageous young woman whose faith is put to the test throughout her journey.
The Evil One
The Evil One, also known as the Devil, is the voice that resides in Indika's mind, constantly taunting, belittling, and tempting her to sin. When she succumbs, he forces her into vivid hallucinations of the fiery depths of hell. Indika's journey centers on freeing herself from his grip once and for all.
Ilya
Ilya is a convict that Indika encounters during her journey. A firm believer in God, he persuades her to join him in searching for the Kudets, a religious artifact said to heal anything. Together, they embark on a quest to the Cathedral of John of Damascus, where Ilya hopes to heal his severed arm and Indika seeks to rid herself of the Devil's influence on her mind.
