Gradius ORIGINS Gameplay
Gradius ORIGINS features gameplay similar to other arcade anthology titles such as TETRIS Forever, where the experience can vary significantly across the different games included in the collection. Despite these variations, the compilation offers a set of quality-of-life improvements, additional game modes, and shared content that is accessible across all titles in the anthology.
The collection includes 18 versions spanning seven arcade titles from the Gradius series’ 40-year history. This lineup features the debut of SALAMANDER III and the first-ever release of the Gradius III AM Show Version, which was previously exclusive to home consoles.
All titles in Gradius ORIGINS are side-scrolling arcade shoot-'em-ups, where players control a ship and navigate through waves of enemies while avoiding incoming attacks. The compilation introduces new features such as Quicksave/Quickload, Rewind, and various gameplay modes including Easy, Invincible, and Training. It also includes galleries for both audio and visual assets from the games, as well as online leaderboards for score tracking.
