Dragon Quest VII Reimagined Gameplay

Dragon Quest VII Reimagined’s core gameplay is divided between overworld exploration and turn-based combat. In the overworld, players will be able to explore Estard Island as well as the many areas unlocked throughout the game. Here, players can interact with NPCs and look for clues that will lead them to the mysterious fragments that hold the power to uncover the lands previously erased from the modern world.
Battles are turn-based and feature a maximum of four party members. Each turn, players can perform basic weapon attacks, cast spells, use vocation skills, defend against attacks, and use items to gain the upper hand.

Each character will have at least one vocation, which acts as their class, allowing them to make use of abilities and powers unavailable to other vocations. For example, warriors specialize in physical abilities, mages use elemental spells, and priests are experts at keeping the party alive. This remake is also introducing the Moonlight system, allowing each character to have two vocations and vastly broadening the possibilities for character builds.
Building off of the 2013 remake, Dragon Age VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past, this game will also retain the ability to see hostiles in the overworld, doing away with random encounters. This also allows players to defeat weaker enemies without entering combat, streamlining progression and reducing the need for grinding.
Difficulty Settings and Customization

Dragon Quest VII Reimagined introduces three difficulty modes, Easy, Normal, and Hard, giving players more control over how challenging their journey will be. Beyond this, enemy aggression and toughness can be adjusted independently, allowing for further fine-tuning of encounters. Battles also now display enemy weaknesses directly in the command menu. When highlighting a spell or ability, the interface shows if the attack is especially effective, or resisted, by the enemy.
Monster Hearts as Accessories

Monster Hearts return in this version but with a twist. Instead of functioning as consumables or vocation unlocks, they now act as equippable accessories. Players can slot them into a secondary equipment slot, gaining stat boosts, buffs, or possibly unique combat abilities depending on the monster heart used.
Expanded Vocations with Moonlight System

Building on the already extensive job system, the new Moonlight system allows each character to dual-class, combining the strengths of two vocations at once.
Optional Stories via Fragments

While some regions and side content have been trimmed, the mysterious fragment system now unlocks optional scenarios. These fragments lead to side stories that expand lore, provide additional rewards, and even preserve some of the cut content in streamlined form.
Arena and Mini-Games

Though the traditional casino and certain mini-games like the fashion contest have been removed, the Lucky Panel mini-game survives in a newly expanded arena. This arena consolidates side activities, providing players with a centralized hub for extra rewards and challenges.
Dragon Quest VII Reimagined Story Plot

Estard Island is a peaceful and isolated land in a sea devoid of neighboring towns or nations. Arus, a fisherman’s young son, alongside his friends Prince Kiefer and Maribel, soon find out that Estard Island wasn’t always alone in the world.
The story begins with the trio stumbling upon ancient ruins holding the key to the past. Here, our heroes find mysterious fragments that have the power to transport them to lands from the past that were banished by Orgodemir, the Demon Lord, who sought to erase the world and rule over the remaining nothingness.

Each location is infested with Orgodemir’s evil forces, and it’s up to Arus and his friends to rescue the forgotten lands and restore the world to its former glory. With each area traversed, the party gets closer to both fulfilling their quest for global restoration and coming face-to-face with the Demon Lord himself.
