Dragon is Dead Story Plot
The world was once teeming with the mightiest Dark Dragons that ruled over the skies. However, one by one, they were felled by Gods. Guernian, the leader of the Dark Dragons and the last of his kind, fully embraced evil and vows revenge for his kin. He seeks to corrupt the entire world with his rift, drowning it in darkness and chaos.
You must now rise and fill yourself with rage and madness to become the Dragon Slayer with the power to slay Guernian. Go on a journey, defeat any monster you encounter corrupted by the last Dark Dragon, and reach him before it’s too late. Defeat Guernian, free the world from suffering, and make sure the Dragon is Dead.
Dragon is Dead Gameplay
Dragon is Dead is a hack-and-slash action platformer with roguelike progression and RPG systems presented with stunning 2D-pixel art and graphics. It’s important to note that though it seems like it, there is no mention of Dragon is Dead being a Metroidvania, and it will focus on being a side-scrolling action RPG. Its progression will be similar to roguelikes where death is expected, but instead, your items will not be lost upon your demise.
Being an action platformer, you will have a wide array of weapons, special abilities, and skill trees to unlock to amass a long moveset to defeat your enemies. Build your character however you want, try on different equipment and runes, and craft legendary equipment to become the legendary Dragon Slayer.

The early access trailer starts with a foreboding message, asking " are the runes a blessing or a curse?" This is in line with the runes our protagonist shall be harnessing throughout the trailer to power his attacks against all the monsters corrupted by Guernian, the last Dark Dragon whose race was driven to extinction due to said runes.
