Death by Scrolling Gameplay
Death by Scrolling is a 2D action roguelike where players are forced to push onward and face danger by a constantly progressing game screen. The screen scrolls upward non-stop towards the end of the level, and waiting in the void below players’ view is the Grim Reaper.
Each run, players can select from five different characters, each with their own quirks and strengths. Then, they must progress through each level, fighting through monsters, projectiles, environmental hazards, and difficult terrain. Throughout each run, players can pick up weapons, character buffs, and enemy debuffs to aid in their escape.
In addition to survival, players must also earn a total of 10,000 gold in order to pay the ferryman and complete a successful run. Between runs, players can also unlock and equip permanent upgrades that can significantly improve chances of escape.
Death by Scrolling Story Plot

Set in Purgatory, you must fight your way through hordes of enemies, dangerous environments, and the Grim Reaper himself to escape the afterlife. Death and danger lying around every corner isn’t the only obstacle, though. You must also muster up 10,000 gold in order to pay the ferryman’s exorbitant fee and make it to safety.
