The gameplay of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III retains the franchise’s hallmark mechanics, delivering fast-paced, customizable gunplay, quick respawns, diverse game modes, and rich PvP systems. Outside the story campaign, players take on the role of a nameless soldier armed with an array of firearms and military gadgets. These tools can be swapped and upgraded mid-match, with gadgets, which are unlocked through killstreaks.
Objectives vary across the game’s modes. Standard PvP matches offer a variety of rulesets tailored to different competitive scenarios, while other modes, such as the story-driven single-player campaign and the cooperative PvE Zombies Mode, provide distinct experiences tailored to their respective audiences.
The single-player campaign follows a linear progression typical of FPS titles but distinguishes itself with the addition of Open Combat Missions. These missions give players greater freedom in deciding how to approach objectives, allowing for multiple strategies and playstyles.
