Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories & the Envisioned Land Gameplay
Atelier Yumia is the newest installment in the popular Japanese role-playing game (JRPG) franchise, the Atelier series. Players navigate a vast, open-world environment filled with diverse regions such as Lignumbria, Syvashi, and Auruma. Each area presents unique landscapes, resources, and challenges. Engagements with enemies occur in real-time, incorporating the use of synthesized items to exploit enemy weaknesses and adapt to various combat scenarios.
"Synthesis" is one of the game's main features where players use an alchemical crafting system that enables players to create items by manipulating the "mana" inherent in gathered materials. The effectiveness of crafted items in exploration and combat is influenced by the quality and properties of the materials used.
Players can construct and customize bases within the game world, providing strategic advantages and serving as hubs for resource management and character interactions. Throughout the game, players collect "memory vials," remnants of the past that reveal information about the world and its history. These vials can also be dismantled to obtain rare materials essential for synthesis.

Yumia Liessfeldt, having lost her mother in an accident, discovers her family's connection to alchemy—a practice now deemed forbidden. Motivated to uncover her mother's intentions and the reasons behind alchemy's prohibition, Yumia joins the Aladiss Research Team. The research team then embarks on an expedition across the ruined continent of Aladiss, exploring regions like Ligneus, Sivash, and Auruma. Each area offers insights into the empire's downfall and the role alchemy played in its history.
As Yumia and her companions delve deeper into ancient ruins and uncover memory vials, they piece together the events leading to the empire's collapse, confronting the ethical implications of alchemical practices. Armed with newfound knowledge, Yumia faces decisions that will influence the world's perception of alchemy and its potential resurgence, determining the balance between tradition and progress.
