Exploration
Aphelion lets players experience a story-rich adventure through its dual protagonists, Thomas and Ariane—astronauts who find themselves separated following a crash landing into the planet Persephone. As they each find their way to one another and uncover the secrets of Persephone, players will traverse the treacherous and unpredictable lands themselves. Armed with only the most basic of tools such as a grappling hook, the game demands strategic thinking and quick reflexes to ensure the survival of the protagonists. They will have to climb rugged mountains, swing over bottomless pits, and withstand the biting cold to accomplish their mission.
EM Scanner
As Ariane, players can scan the environment for electromagnetic frequencies to slowly find their way to Thomas. Should there be obstacles in the way, Ariane can manipulate radio waves to destroy them and open up new paths. Players must also be wary of anomalous or corrupted frequencies, as this is evidence of a trail left behind by the strange creature that dwells on the planet.
Stealth
One of the main gameplay mechanics featured in Aphelion is stealth. Players will eventually encounter a dangerous creature capable of stalking their every move. To ensure the protagonists’ survival, they will have to avoid the creature by moving silently and ducking behind rocks, crates, and machinery.
Aphelion Story Plot
It is 2060 and Earth will soon become completely uninhabitable. Humanity makes one last bid for survival by sending two astronauts to a recently discovered planet in the solar system. Known for its harsh yet traversable terrain and shifting climes, the planet Persephone poses as mankind’s last hope. Two astronauts named Ariane and Thomas are enlisted to travel to Persephone and survey the land, but a crash landing leaves them stranded in the middle of the uncharted planet..
Aphelion will alternate between the perspectives of Ariane and Thomas. Following her recovery from the crash, Ariane will set off to find Thomas. As Thomas, players will stumble into an abandoned man-made facility that houses clues and secrets that they must piece together. Unbeknownst to them, however, there is a powerful threat lurking in their midst—one they must survive if they hope to return from their mission triumphant.
