Pikmin 4 Story Plot
Once again, alien spacefarers have found themselves on planet Earth (or PNF-404), requiring the assistance of the Pikmin – tiny elf-like creatures with different powers.
Based on the Rise to the Occasion
trailer released in early June, you will take control of a member of the Rescue Corps - a team sent to rescue the intrepid explorer, Captain Olimar, whose ship once again crashed on Earth. The problem is, the Rescue Corps crashed into Earth as well, and it falls to you to rescue them all! With you will be the Pikmin we all know and love, along with a new Pikmin type: the Ice Pikmin.
You’ll also be collecting treasures with a brand new two-legged friend while fighting off familiar enemies like the Bulborbs, the Bulbears, and the Long Legs. But there are new and menacing enemies as well, and you’ll have to make good use of your Pikmin friends to beat them.
Pikmin 4 Gameplay
Based on the trailers that have come out so far, Pikmin 4 will still play like previous games in the series. You’ll be in control of a space alien who leads groups of Pikmin around the map to beat enemies and collect treasures.
It appears that you’ll be traveling to different maps on a small spaceship that flies along with the Onion that carries Pikmin, so there could be various locales set in different weather conditions.
The underground sections from Pikmin 2 have also made a return. Down there, you’ll be skulking around to find treasures as well as rescue castaways.

Announcement Trailer (Released September 13, 2022)
Here, we get a glimpse of the environment in Pikmin 4 – an empty planet Earth well after humanity has gone extinct. We also see a Bulborb, as well as the new logo for the game – featuring a "4" made of golden flowers, representing the new Ice Pikmin.
Nintendo Direct Trailer (Released February 9, 2023)
In this trailer, we see a lot of the new stuff coming to Pikmin 4, such as a new perspective that makes the world look vast, the new Ice Pikmin, and Oatchie, your faithful alien dog. The trailer also implies that there will be night missions where enemies will be much more dangerous to deal with.
Rise to the Occasion Trailer (Released June 6, 2023)
Here, we find out more details about Pikmin 4's plot. The Rescue Corps has crashed into Earth while trying to rescue Captain Olimar, and it's up to you - the Corps' newest recruit - to save all of them!
