When is SaGa Frontier 2 Remastered Coming?
Releasing by the end of 2024, Out By 2025 at the Latest
SaGa Frontier 2 Remastered is the next in line of the classic series being clamored for a remaster, similar to its predecessor, SaGa Frontier, when it was re-released on PC, modern consoles, and mobile devices back in 2021. However, Square Enix has been tight-lipped about its existence for the longest time– that is, until tenured SaGa series character designer Tomomi Kobayasi accidentally let slip hints of it on her blog post last October 2023.
As reported by Gamatsu, she had posted, " Oh! That’s Right It looks like SaGa Frontier 2 is (maybe?) going to be released next year!! My illustrations are in the game! I hope you can look forward to it!" Later, the blog was edited to remove the above quote. From what she knows, the unconfirmed remaster had a big chance to come out by this year of 2024.
The remaster was finally half-confirmed when, during the April 1, 2024 stream for Romancing Saga Re;univerSe which also coincided with the 25th anniversary of the original SaGa Frontier 2’s release, SaGa series creator Akitoshi Kawazu appeared in a video message to indirectly tease it. "However, this is not a remaster announcement, so please wait a little longer for that. Honestly though, you won’t be disappointed if you wait, so you can rest assured. Please be patient."
Between Kobayashi’s slip of the tongue when she said that the remaster was coming out in 2024 and Kawazu’s advice for fans to be patient for upcoming news, it seems like they’re taking their time to meticulously work on SaGa Frontier 2 Remastered. It could very well still be released by the end of the year, but with the care and hard work the developers are seemingly putting into the game, we might not see a release until 2025.
