OD is the stunning game collaboration between gaming veteran Hideo Kojima and Hollywood horror director Jordan Peele. When might it come out? Continue down the article to read our best guess!
OD Release Date and Time
Best Estimate Would be Around 2027-2028
OD will most likely be released in 2027 to 2028, 3-4 years after the game was announced. OD, or Overdose, will be a three-way collaboration between Hideo Kojima’s Kojima Productions, award-winning director Jordan Peele, and Xbox Game Studios. Although the lineup is great, game development takes quite a bit of time, specially in the modern age. Kojima Production’s maiden and sole game that has been released, Death Stranding, was announced back in 2016, and was only released in 2019.
Alongside OD, Kojima Productions are also developing two other games: Death Stranding 2, and an unnamed action-espionage title in collaboration with PlayStation and Sony Interactive Entertainment. It was mentioned in its announcement trailer that the new action-espionage game will only commence development after the release of Death Stranding 2. Therefore, OD for the majority, or even perhaps the entirety of its development, will not have the full concentrated effort of Hideo Kojima.
Although both titles will no doubt have different development teams as a whole, the leadership and vision of Kojima are still the unique link that makes them Hideo Kojima games.
OD most likely still has a long way to go before a release date timeframe, or even more footage, can be shown.
What is OD Even About?
Not much information as to what OD or Overdose is about, except for what little footage and information has been released since its announcement. The trailer heavily features the floating head of Sophia Lillis and Udo Kier, repeating the phrase "The hungry purple dinosaur ate the kind zingy fox, the jabbering crab, and the mad whale and started vending and cracking." At the end of the trailer, Lillis screams in terror as the screen fades to black, and the text " FOR ALL PLAYERS AND SCREAMERS" enters the frame.
As this is a collaboration with horror director Jordan Peele, it will undoubtedly feature scary horror and psychological elements that will certainly terrify players (and screamers).
