It's been 3 years since the last Battlefield game, and we still haven’t heard much about the next one. However, thanks to some information, we could make an educated guess as to when the next Battlefield game will be released. Read on to learn more.
When is the Next Battlefield Game Coming?
Probably in October or November of This Year.
Battlefield 2042 was the franchise’s latest iteration of the series. However, that was a game that didn’t really perform well, and is considered by many to be a flop. It’s been almost three years since its release, and fans have been waiting for the next entry, Battlefield 6.
According to Comicbook, an EA earnings call reveals that the company has no plans of releasing a Battlefield game in fiscal year 2024. However, fiscal year 2024 does not span the entirety of 2024, but ends on March 31, 2024. April 1 of this year would then be considered fiscal year 2025. Additionally, Battlefield has been religiously following a schedule of releasing games in October or November.
With this information, it makes sense for EA to release Battlefield 6 in October or November of this year.
The Most Destructive Battlefield Game Ever?
In the same earnings call, the publisher said that the next Battlefield game would be a "reimagination" as a "truly connected ecosystem." While we have no idea what that means for sure, it’s safe to say that they’ll be trying new things to improve the state of the franchise.
One of Battlefield 2042’s biggest issues is the destruction - or the lack thereof. It seems that EA is trying to right that wrong, as evidenced by a job listing for a Ripple Effect VFX Director that was posted by the company. According to the listing, the job involves creating stunning real-time visual effects using a mastery of high-quality particle effects, textures, and shaders. Additionally, it involves creating optimized and hyper realistic in-game VFX. This listing may just hint that destructible environments are finally coming back to Battlefield with a bang.
