The latest installment in the long-running Trails series by Nihon Falcom, The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Reverie takes place just after the Erebonia Arc, and centers around three protagonists: Rean Schwarzer, the protagonist of the Trails of Cold Steel games, Lloyd Bannings, the protagonist of the Trails from Zero and Trails to Azure games, and the mysterious masked man named only as "C".
Originally released in 2020, Trails into Reverie will finally make its way to the rest of the world with an official English translation that resolves both the Erebonia and Crossbell Arcs. Those who are thinking of getting into the Trails series with this game, however, should look at the past titles first so that you could get an idea of what’s happening in Trails into Reverie.
The Legend of Heroes: Trails into Reverie Gameplay
Games in the Trails series have always had similar gameplay styles, with each new title having its own spin on the system. For Trails into Reverie, there is the new "Crossroads" system, which allows the player to switch between the game’s three protagonists. There’s also the new "United Front" system that has your entire team attack the enemy all at once to deal devastating damage.
Trails into Reverie also features many minigames that play much differently from the rest of the game. So far, there are shoot-em-ups, third-person mech fighting, a watermelon-breaking minigame, and a "Who Wants to be a Millionaire?" parody. Newcomers to the series may find these additions a bit strange, but fans of the previous games may recognize the shoot-em up minigame and the "Who Wants to be a Millionaire?" parody to be similar to the minigames back in Trails in the Sky the 3rd.

According to Nis America, the localizers of Trails into Reverie, the game will come out for the PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, and PC in three editions: Standard, Deluxe, and Limited.
The Standard Edition seems to be PC-only, to be sold through Steam, the Epic Games Store, and GOG. Though the game is already viewable on those stores, they have yet to make the game available for pre-order.
The Deluxe Edition meanwhile is so far exclusive to the PS4 and Switch versions of the game. Aside from a copy of the game, the Deluxe Edition also comes with a Digital Soundtrack and a Mini Art Book.
The Limited Edition is also console-only, sold through NIS America’s online store. If the company ever restocks, then you will want to know that it comes with a Legends of Zemuria Hardcover Art Book, Songs of Reverie Official Soundtrack, a softcover novel, an acrylic print, and a Collector’s Box.

Teaser Trailer (Released June 25, 2021)
In this teaser, we see the game’s three protagonists (Rean, Lloyd, and C), as well as a glance into the cutscene graphics in the game. We also get a glimpse of a mysterious girl who may be the girl that’s in the game’s logo.
Story Trailer (Released December 19, 2022)
This video sets up the basic premise of the game, introducing us to Rean, Lloyd, and C’s plotlines. We also get to see more cutscenes and the gameplay during battles.
Characters Trailer (Released March 8, 2023)
Here, we find out more about three plot arcs in the game - "The Day of Reindependence" arc for Lloyd, "Lost Symbol" for Rean, and "The Miserable Sinners" starring C.
Features Trailer (Released April 12, 2023)
This trailer shows off the systems Trails into Reverie features outside of the main game. There’s the Reverie Corridor mode, which is a roguelike dungeon crawler. There are also many minigames that are wildly different from the main game itself.
The Legend of Heroes: Trails into Reverie System Requirements
So far, the Steam page for Trails into Reverie has yet to reveal any system requirements for the game outside of the required operating system (Windows). We’ll update this section as more information becomes available.
