Everything We Know About Cities: Skylines 2
Cities: Skylines 2 Story Plot
As a city-builder simulation game, Cities: Skylines 2 does not have a story or plotline to follow. Instead, players are incentivized to build and design each city using their creativity and strategic knowledge of the game's mechanics.
Cities: Skylines 2 Gameplay
The gameplay for Cities: Skylines 2 is very similar to that of its predecessor, focusing on micromanaging the many aspects of a city's administration including its zoning projects, public utilities, roads, and highways. Each aspect must be balanced to provide the best experience to your citizens.
Notable improvements in gameplay for Cities: Skyline 2 over its predecessor include a better road system that includes utility lines, superior citizen simulation, and an overhauled zoning system.
New and Improved Road Tools
Road building is more intuitive and nuanced in Cities: Skylines 2. With the newly improved game engine, the road tool receives some much needed improvements, including the long-awaited roundabout feature that was absent from the previous game.
Advanced Traffic AI
Cities: Skylines 2 boasts an overhauled traffic AI system that relies on new factors called Pathfinding Scores
. Instead of relying solely on travel time, the new system weighs in new factors such as road safety, road comfort, and cost of travel when determining the flow of traffic among your city's arterial pathways.
Zoning Overhaul
Cities: Skylines' zoning system, a game mechanic lauded for its intuitiveness and efficiency, is receiving a major overhaul in Cities: Skylines 2. Apart from the new option to change building design from the zoning menu, merged zoning areas are now available.
Both commercial and residential zones can now coexist on the same cells via a new zoning tool, offering a brand new level of realism previously unseen in city-building games.
