Yakuza 3 Remastered To Be Delisted
Sales Will End Following Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties Launch
Yakuza 3 Remastered will no longer be available to buy as a standalone game after Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties releases next month, Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio confirmed in a post on Twitter (X) on January 17.
Players who already own the game will retain access, while new players will need to purchase it as part of the Yakuza Complete Series bundle, which includes the full Kiryu saga from Yakuza 0 through Yakuza 6: The Song of Life. The studio did not provide a specific reason for ending standalone sales.
However, it can be speculated that because Yakuza Kiwami 3 is a full remake of Yakuza 3, the studio hopes for newer players to directly experience the modern remake instead. It completely rebuilds the 2009 title with modern visuals, reworked combat systems, and updated gameplay, revisiting Kazuma Kiryu’s life in Okinawa and his efforts to protect those closest to him.
Alongside the remake, Dark Ties introduces a separate, original storyline centered on Yoshitaka Mine, a key character from Yakuza 3, offering a new perspective distinct from Kiryu’s arc.
"Everyone at the studio has poured their hearts into creating this title, and we are truly looking forward to the day everybody can finally play it." Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio said in their post.
The Yakuza Complete Series bundle is currently listed for $129.99 on the PlayStation Store, Xbox Store, and Steam, though pricing may vary by region. For now, Yakuza 3 Remastered can still be purchased individually for $19.99 on the same storefronts. Physical copies of The Yakuza Remastered Collection, which includes remastered versions of Yakuza 3, 4, and 5, also remain available in retail stores.
Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties is set to release on February 12 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
