Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 devs Saber Interactive recently posted FAQ containing a general overview of what to expect when you get your hands on the game. As Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 nears its September 9 release, Saber Interactive has early on confirmed that "No"—no DRM software like Denuvo will be put in place for the upcoming hack-n-slash shooter.

DRM, or digital rights management, is often used to prevent piracy and protect a game’s code. However, such software has built a mixed reputation within the gaming community, with many players arguing that it can negatively impact game performance. Such instances where DRM has "broken" a game include Capcom implementing Enigma DRM in Monster Hunter Rise, which had reportedly made it incompatible with Steam Deck as well as mod features.

While Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 will not include DRM, Saber Interactive confirmed that the game will use the anti-cheat software Easy Anti-Cheat on PC at launch. Earlier in the year, the use of Easy Anti-Cheat was scrutinized by the Apex Legends gaming community when it became the alleged source of the hacking incident during the ALGS 2024 tournament back in March.

Additionally, the developers stated that there are no current plans for official mod support, which may be disappointing for some players. However, there are still plenty of exciting features to look forward to, including a PvP arena mode, horde mode, and an extensive photo mode. Saber Interactive also assured players that all gameplay content and features in Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is free for everyone, and microtransactions as well as any paid DLC are limited to cosmetic items only.
