BioWare seems to have no plans on releasing DLCs for Dragon Age: The Veilguard. However, creative director John Epler has given insight into the probability of releasing a Dragon Age remastered collection.
BioWare Doesn't Have Current Plans for Dragon Age: The Veilguard DLC
Creative Director Says “Never Say Never” to Dragon Age Remastered Collection Though
BioWare currently has no plans for any Dragon Age: The Veilguard "downloadable expansions," according to a recent report by Rolling Stone. Speaking to BioWare creative director John Epler, the online magazine reported that Dragon Age developer-publisher BioWare confirmed that they have no plans to make DLCs for Veilguard as it was "now complete." Moreover, with Veilguard being officially launched, BioWare has now shifted its efforts to the next installment in its military sci-fi franchise, Mass Effect.
While further details on BioWare's plans for a Veilguard DLC weren't shared, Epler did give comments on what the devs think about releasing a remastered collection of older Dragon Age games, similar to what they have done with the Mass Effect Legendary Edition which modernized Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2, and Mass Effect 3 for today's consoles.
Epler noted that while he would love to see a Dragon Age collection be released, remastering the first three Dragon Age games would be challenging as they originally used EA’s proprietary game engines. Epler explained, "It’s something that’s not going to be as easy as Mass Effect, but we do love the original games. Never say never, I guess that’s what it comes down to."
On the other hand, fans of Mass Effect can expect that the next installment, currently dubbed as Mass Effect 5, will contain the same "Mass Effect DNA" that carries the series' mature and realistic signatures. Project director Michael Gamble recently took to Twitter (X) to address questions about the next Mass Effect title, fielding off questions as BioWare releases Veilguard to mixed reception regarding its visuals. For context, fans have deemed Veilguard's overall tone to be entirely different from previous Dragon Age titles. To put it simply, fans have thought that BioWare has taken on a "Disney" or "Pixar-like" style in executing the game's visuals.
With these concerns directed at him, Gamble confirmed that Veilguard's stylistic features won't affect Mass Effect 5 in any way. "Both are from the studio, but Mass Effect is Mass Effect. How you bring a Sci Fi RPG to life is different than other genres or IPs...and has to have different kinds of love," Gamble said on Twitter (X), adding that "Mass Effect will maintain the mature tone of the original Trilogy. This is all I'm gonna say for now."
