Ubisoft Puts in Place Ubisoft+ Premium and Ubisoft+ Classics
Activision Blizzard Catalog Will Eventually be Added
Ubisoft announced that it is shaking up its subscription offerings and rebranding its previous "Ubisoft+ Multi-Access" and "Ubisoft+ PC Access". The company introduced Ubisoft+ Premium and Ubisoft+ Classics, focused on providing day-one access to new releases, back catalog options, and a curated selection of popular games.
Ubisoft’s Director of Subscriptions Philippe Tremblay noted the shift the company perceived in consumer behavior towards digital cloud gaming. He encouraged players to embrace subscription-based models and move away from traditional ownership.
"When we look at the results, players are really enjoying and engaging with our back catalog when they subscribe," stated Tremblay. "So, we saw an opportunity to craft a service specifically around said catalog. We think it's a strong offer at the price point, and the catalog will only grow as we keep adding games to it as time goes on."
Ubisoft+ aims to build value for subscribers by offering a diverse range of games, and day one and early access. In line with the deal Ubisoft struck with Activision Blizzard Games, the Activision Blizzard catalog will be eventually included in the subscription.
Tremblay stated, "We've made the commitment to bring more games to our subscribers. So, looking into the future, we have an exciting lineup that they'll be able to play either in early access or on day one, and then we'll eventually have the Activision Blizzard catalog, too. Alongside the perks and our rich, diverse back catalog, we believe we're offering a compelling reason for our players to stick around."
Ubisoft+ Premium Includes Premium Editions, DLCs, and More
Ubisoft+ Premium combines the old subscriptions, Ubisoft+ Multi-Access and Ubisoft+ PC Access, and offers subscribers day-one access to new releases and, in some cases, early access to upcoming titles like Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown. The subscription includes premium editions of games, DLC, monthly rewards, and a vast back-catalog. With a monthly fee of $17.99, subscribers gain access across platforms, including Xbox, PC, and Amazon Luna.
Ubisoft+ Classics Catalog Included for PS+ Extra and PS+ Premium Members
Ubisoft+ Classics, priced at $7.99 per month, caters to players seeking a curated selection of popular back-catalog and live games. Games such as Far Cry 6, Rainbow Six Siege, and Watch Dogs: Legion are part of this collection, with the catalog expected to expand over time. This subscription is included for PlayStation+ Extra and PlayStation+ Premium members and is accessible on PC through the Ubisoft Store.
Current Ubisoft+ PC Access subscribers need not worry about the rebrand, as Ubisoft assured that they will retain their existing plans with the same monthly pricing.
