The Witcher 3’s “One More Patch” Delayed to 2026
No Confirmed Release Date and Time Yet
CD Projekt RED has announced that the final patch for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will no longer be released this year as originally planned. Instead, the update has been delayed to 2026, with a confirmed release date still to be determined.
For now, the studio has pointed players to an FAQ that explains how the new mod support will work. While the reason for the delay hasn’t been shared, CD PROJEKT RED noted that additional information will be provided as the release date approaches.
Despite the delay, fan reaction on social media has been largely positive. Many players have expressed support for CD Projekt RED’s decision, encouraging the developer to take the necessary time to ensure the update meets expectations.
What is The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Cross-Platform Mod Support?

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Cross-Platform Mod Support, also being dubbed as "One More Patch, " was announced on May 30, 2025, as the game’s final update. This patch celebrates the 10th anniversary of the original release on May 19, 2015, for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Since then, the game has seen several re-releases, including the Nintendo Switch port on October 15, 2019, and the Complete Edition for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on December 14, 2022, which was also available as a free next-gen upgrade for existing owners.
As the name suggests, this update introduces cross-platform mod support across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S through mod.io. According to CD PROJEKT RED’s official FAQ, the update will be free, and uploading, sharing, and downloading mods via this system will be available at "no additional cost " for those who own the game. To access the feature, players will need to have both a CD PROJEKT RED account and a mod.io account.
Existing mods from other modding kits will not be deleted and will remain usable. However, not every PC mod will make it to consoles due to "platform-specific content guidelines. " While the system supports a wide range of mods, those requiring scripts on consoles must be built using The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt REDkit. Other types, such as texture or bundle mods, don’t require REDkit.
One limitation is that mods cannot be created directly on PS5 or Xbox Series X|S. Instead, they must be developed on PC using REDkit or other compatible tools before being shared across platforms.
