The Game Awards 2025 Mysterious Statue Sparks Online Theories
Not Connected To God of War or Diablo
The mysterious Game Awards (TGA) 2025 statue isn’t connected to either God of War or Diablo, as confirmed by their developers and insiders. Last week, TGA organiser Geoff Keigley posted on Twitter (X) an eerie figure with a caption, "regal inspiring thickness."
The ominous statue has dominated discussions in the gaming community for the past few days, fueling speculation that it teases an upcoming game reveal at TGA 2025. Many tried to decipher what the caption meant in relation to the figure, and it was discovered that it was coordinates to the statue’s location.

Using the What3Words map tracking website, it was revealed that the model is located in the Mojave Desert in California. Since then, many have visited the site, confirming that the statue does indeed exist.
The depiction in the statue is brooding and dark, featuring disfigured bodies, demons, dragons, and other menacing creatures. Because of this, many associated it with game franchises and titles of a similar nature, such as God of War, Fallout, Doom, Baldur’s Gate, Diablo, and others.
However, gaming YouTuber and streamer Luke Stephens noted that during his livestream, Sony’s Santa Monica Studio Director Cory Barlog commented that the statue is not connected to God of War in any fashion.
Meanwhile, Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier shot down Windows Central reporter Jez Corden’s claim that it was about Diablo IV’s upcoming expansion. In a discussion thread on ResetEra, Schreier stated, "No idea where Jez is getting that, but this statue is not teasing the Diablo 4 expansion. (I don't currently plan on reporting what it is, sorry, but it's a good one.)"
So far, there have been no other confirmations or denials of association with the statue. Fans continue to unlock the mysteries behind the sinister image, but it won’t be long until the secret is solved as TGA 2025 is just around the corner.
Megabonk Is Back On The Game Awards 2025

Aside from the mysterious statue, the gaming community is also busy selecting its favorite titles for the Players’ Voice Award (PVA). Among these games is the popular indie game, Megabonk, which was the center of attention for most gamers a couple of weeks ago.
On November 19, Megabonk's solo developer, Vedinand, withdrew the game from its nomination for "Best Debut Indie Game." He did not think that the roguelite survival qualifies for the nominated category and said, "I've made games in the past under different studio names, so Megabonk is not my debut game."
Despite the withdrawal, it seems that TGA is keen to recognize Megabonk’s brilliance, as the game has been nominated for the TGA 2025’s PVA. In a Twitter (X) post on December 2, Vedinad urged players to vote for Megabonk for the fan-based award.
As of the time of writing, the first round of voting for PVA is now closed and will proceed to the second round on December 4. It is unclear whether Megabonk advances to the next round of voting. But given that it was initially nominated for Best Debut Indie Game, its chances are high, considering it reached an all-time peak of 117,336 players, according to SteamDB.
This year’s The Game Awards is highly anticipated as many big titles are going to be featured at the awards show. To know more about The Game Awards 2025, check out our article below.
