Zelda Producer Confirms No Sequel Planned
Tears of the Kingdom Called the Final Form
In an interview with Game Informer, producer Eiji Aonuma—who has worked on The Legend of Zelda for more than thirty years—explained why a sequel to Tears of The Kingdom is unlikely. Aonuma stated "We created what we wanted to create and felt that it was complete in that fashion."
Aonuma said that he does not have plans to create a direct sequel to Tears of the Kingdom because he considers the game as "an apotheosis, or the final form of that version of The Legend of Zelda." The game sought to build on Breath of the Wild and has exhausted all the possibilities that they could put into the world, according to the producer.
Tears of the Kingdom No DLC in Sight
In a September interview with Famitsu, Aonuma stated that a DLC is not currently scheduled because their team thought Tears of the Kingdom had delivered the enjoyable experience they had hoped for.
Aonuma’s most recent interview with Gameinformer confirmed that they still don’t have any intentions to create a DLC for that same reason.
