Stellar Blade 2 Looking To Surpass Its Predecessor
Expanded World and Enhanced Gameplay
Stellar Blade developer SHIFT UP is actively pursuing the development of its sequel, featuring an expanded world and enhanced gameplay. As stated in SHIFT UP’s semi-annual report, Stellar Blade became one of the most popular IPs the company has, and they plan to build upon its success.
According to their 2Q 2025 Business Performance Results & 2Q 2025 Factsheet, SHIFT UP achieved record-high quarterly performance, increasing its year-over-year by 72.4% and quarter-over-quarter by 166.1%. Notably, Stellar Blade generated more than half of the company’s revenue.
SHIFT UP stated, "Building on these achievements, we are actively pursuing the franchise of the Stellar Blade IP, and are currently developing a sequel to Stellar Blade." The company has previously confirmed that they are working on Stellar Blade’s sequel, referred to as Stellar Blade 2, among other titles, but has yet to disclose any information regarding it.
However, the recent semi-annual report gave fans an insight into the game’s development. SHIFT UP noted, "The sequel will inherit the action-packed nature of the original Stellar Blade, while also expanding its worldview and enhancing gameplay to further solidify its position as a franchise IP. We anticipate that this will surpass the success of the original game."
While the first title in the series became popular for its high-octane gameplay and expansive modding, SHIFT UP CEO Hyung-tae Kim promised that they would also improve the game’s narrative in the sequel, which they admittedly said was lacking in the original game.
Regardless, fans still viewed Stellar Blade as one of the best games to come out in recent years, giving it "Overwhelmingly Positive" reviews when it launched on PC. IP Expansion and Project Spirits
Beyond an eventual sequel, SHIFT UP is also looking to expand the Stellar Blade IP further. They stated, "We plan to develop various derivative works and expand the Stellar Blade IP so that Stellar Blade can establish itself as a well-made IP."
Although the company has yet to confirm anything regarding these "derivative works", the popular sci-fi action adventure may explore possible spin-off titles, TV or film adaptations, DLC, or other content. Additionally, SHIFT UP is working on another title alongside the development of Stellar Blade 2.
Initially dubbed as "Project Witches," the studio has updated its title to "Project Spirits," and described it as "a subculture-style game based on an Eastern fantasy worldview, and is being developed as a cross-platform game encompassing mobile, PC, and console."
Both Stellar Blade 2 and Project Spirits are expected to launch by 2027, but the developers have yet to specify an exact release date or window. For now, fans can experience the post-apocalyptic sci-fi world of Stellar Blade alongside Eve with its updated physics following its recent release on PC.
