Promises Highly Anticipated NG+

PlayStation exclusive Spider-Man 2 has been confirmed to receive a large update in early 2024, according to both Sony and developer Insomniac Games. The update allegedly integrates highly requested features into the game, like the highly anticipated New Game+ (NG+) mode, which has been a staple in RPG games, allowing players to experience a game once more but with the gear and upgrades you’ve already earned.

Spider-Man 2 is an amazing PlayStation-exclusive game that we scored an 88/100 in our review. Game8’s Mike, who reviewed this game, said that "Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 builds upon the foundation set by its predecessors and even adds on top of it." However, notably missing from the game is a NG+ mode, which was present in the game’s predecessor. Moreover, one of the cons of Spider-Man 2 is that the campaign is a little too short. That being said, it’s not unheard of for someone to crave more web-slinging action after completing the story. This is an issue that New Game+ will likely fix.

The upcoming update is being worked on, but according to Insomniac, it required more testing to "ensure the quality is up to [Insomniac’s] standards."

Other Fan-Requested Changes

The update just isn’t about NG+ integration. It will also include other fan-requested features, like mission replayability, changing in-game time, and being able to change the tendril colors when using symbiote powers. Insomniac says that those aren’t everything they plan to add next year.

“We can’t wait to share more with you in the future,” says the studio. They finished their statement by expressing their gratitude for their players’ patience as they work to get the next big update out.
