Silent Hill 2 Remake fans appear to have edited the game's Wikipedia page with false review scores following its early access release.

Angry Silent Hill 2 Remake Fans Leave Faux Reviews on Wikipedia Page

The Internet Thinks It Has to Do With “Anti-Woke” Agenda

Following the repeated spreading of misinformation regarding Silent Hill 2 Remake's review ratings on its Wikipedia page, Wikipedia locked down the game's page which remains semi-protected at the time of writing. Enclaves of fans who appear to be unhappy with the remake developed by Bloober Team had edited its page to reflect false, and lower, review scores from various publications, though it is currently unclear as to why Silent Hill 2 Remake suffered this false review bombing. However, the game's Wikipedia page has now since been fixed and locked, barring edits for the meantime.

Silent Hill 2 Remake was recently released in early access, with its full release coming on October 8, and received positive critic reviews. Game8 has given Silent Hill 2 Remake a rating of 92/100 and commended its effective delivery that's able to leave an emotional impact on players.

Prior to its launch, the game was involved in hot debate and controversy due to several aspects. One would be the fact that some fans were less than optimistic and doubtful of the way Bloober Team will handle development on the iconic game, citing worries such as deviating from its core focus on narrative in favor of action-packed gameplay.

Meanwhile, there are persistent discussions around Silent Hill 2 Remake being too "woke," which is a slang used to refer to, and in some cases demean, awareness on political issues. Some fans have criticized character design changes in the remake, such as protagonist James Sunderland's looking too old compared to the original. "Silent Hill 2 remake is shaping up to be a real joke. I'm a fan of the original, and this reflects it in every way. People would really accept anything they're given. It's woke trash," one fan said on the other hand to Maria's "chubbier" appearance in the remake.

The gaming community has presumed this discourse on "wokeness" to be the case for the review bombing, with fans sharing their thoughts on social media platforms. "Let them be, the game got a 9/10 at almost every review page and it's top 4 most selling at USA, those kids can't change nothing," one fan said on Reddit. Other fans have also shown their support for the game. "Here’s the thing…. Was I nervous/skeptical about Bloober being behind SH2R? Sure. I think a lot were," another fan commented. "But… as far as I can see…. They’ve done a good job? I am willing to admit that I was wrong. Bloober seems to have evolved and grown and done a good job with this."
