Avengers-Style Super Smash Bros. Movie Reported to be Pitched to Nintendo

No Official Confirmation from Nintendo nor Illumination

Film industry insider Daniel Richtman revealed a rumored collaboration between animation studio Illumination and Nintendo. Richtman shared on his Patreon that Illumination, the studio behind The Super Mario Bros. Movie, is reportedly pitching a concept for a Nintendo cinematic universe.

As picked up by news site ScreenTime, Illumination's proposal includes the creation of multiple spinoff movies featuring various Nintendo personalities and culminating in an Avengers-style event film modeled after Super Smash Bros.

The scoop follows the success of The Super Mario Bros. Movie which grew to be Illumination's highest-grossing film.

While Richtman's information claims that Illumination pitched an Avengers-style Super Smash Bros. movie to Nintendo, there is no official confirmation from Nintendo and Illumination that this project is in development or that it exists. Although, it is worth of note that Nintendo announced a collaboration with Sony for a live-action adaptation of The Legend of Zelda, as the company continues to venture in films.
