Pokémon GO New Year's Event with Exclusive Features

Pokémon GO is rolling out its upcoming New Year's event starting January 1, 2024 (10 AM local time) to January 3, 2024 (8 PM local time). The event promises a range of exciting features and exclusive content for players worldwide. Read on to know more.

Pokémon GO New Year’s 2024

Starts January 1, 2024, 10:00 AM local time
Ends January 3, 2024, 8:00 PM local time
Location Any part of the world 🌎

Trainers can take on special raids featuring unique challenges, encounter Pokemon with fun costumes, and have the opportunity to capture shiny variants during the event. The event introduces new costumed Pokemon, Jigglypuff and Wigglytuff, both adorned with festive ribbons. Trainers can also enjoy the in-game fireworks as part of the festivities.

Event Bonuses

 ● 1/2 Egg Hatch Distance when Eggs are placed into Incubators during the event
 ● 1/4 Hatch Distance for the first three Eggs hatched during the event using the Pokémon GO Egg hatching widget.*
* These bonuses will not stack.

Wild Encounters

 ● Jigglypuff wearing a ribbon
 ● Hoothoot wearing a New Year’s outfit
 ● Darumaka

Bronzor can also be encountered but expect it to be rare. If you’re lucky, you may encounter a Shiny variant of these Pokémon.

Field Research Focuses on Darumaka

Darumaka

Darumaka will be featured in Field Research Tasks and will have increased encounters in the wild. Likewise, Darumaka hats will be available as in-game store items for avatars. Additionally, some trainers might encounter Bronzor.

Paid Timed Research for Jigglypuff, Hoothoot, and Wurmple

 ● Jigglypuff wearing a ribbon
 ● Hoothoot wearing a New Year’s outfit
 ● Wurmple wearing a party hat

For US$1.00 (or the equivalent pricing tier in your local currency), you’ll be able to access event-exclusive Timed Research. Complete the research tasks to encounter these event-specific Pokémon and earn Stardust, XP, and PokéCoins.

Please note that Timed Research expires. The tasks associated with this Timed Research must be completed and their rewards must be claimed before January 3, 2024, at 8:00 p.m. local time.

Timed Research ticket will only be available in the in-game shop from Monday, January 1, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. to Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at 8:00 p.m. local time.

Five-Star Raids are Region Exclusive

Buzzwole (Americas Only) Xurkitree (Asia-Pacific Only) Pheromosa (Europe Only)

Note that America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific regions will each have exclusive Five-Star raid encounters. For all regions, Mega Ampharos will be featured as the Mega Raid Pokemon.
