Fifteen Minutes of Unintentional Early Access
Persona 5 Tactica’s official release date is on November 17, 2023. However, Atlus fans have noticed that the Steam page for the game had the “Add to Cart” option, in place of the usual “Pre-Purchase” or “Add to Wishlist” options you’d see from unreleased games.
It didn’t take long for news to spread and people to talk about it on Twitter (X), with players claiming to have bought and been able to play the game early with no issues whatsoever.
It only took 15 minutes or less for this issue to be fixed though, as the game was immediately removed from Steam. If you check it out now, provided you’re reading this before the actual release date, you’ll find that you only have the option to pre-order, and not add to cart.
According to SteamDB, only three players were able to launch the game during this accidental release. However, the exact number is probably higher, considering that switching Steam to its offline mode while playing a prematurely released game has been a known strategy to circumvent them being “returned” or being locked by Steam.
This isn’t the first time a Sega game experienced an oopsie like this. Yakuza 6: The Song of Life’s demo from way back in 2016 let players access the whole game instead of just a demo. Additionally, Altus also accidentally leaked two trailers for their upcoming Persona games for Xbox on Instagram last June.
