Octopath Traveler 0 Comes to Switch and Switch 2
Releasing On December 4, 2025
Octopath Traveler 0 is launching on the Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 on December 4, 2025, as was announced during the Nintendo Direct: Partner Showcase that aired on July 31, 2025.
This narrative-driven prequel starts off the history of the series with a personal quest for restoration and retribution on a quest to revive your hometown of Wishvale, which was razed to the ground by nefarious villains. With over 30 recruitable allies to find, the goal of rebuilding your home and saving the world will be much easier to achieve.
Unlike the other titles in the series, players will be able to "start from zero" and play through the eyes of their own custom protagonist. They will also be able to customize and plan out the new Wishvale with what appears to be a building and construction mechanic.
Both Octopath Traveler enthusiasts and newbies will be able to experience the game with its iconic HD-2D graphics, the fast-paced, turn-based, Break & Boost battle system, and more. Further details on gameplay, story, combat, and others will surely be revealed as it nears its December release.
Octopath Traveler 0 is confirmed to release on PC via Steam and the Microsoft Store, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S on December 4th, 2025. The game is now available for pre-order on all its platforms, with the Standard, Digital Deluxe, and Collector's Edition to choose from.
