Monster Hunter Wilds PC Version to Receive Performance Enhancements
CPU and GPU Optimizations in Upcoming Update
After negative feedback on the game’s performance since its release this February, developer Capcom announced that optimizations for the PC version of Monster Hunter (MH) will be coming with the Free Title Update 4 this winter. It also promised that gradual improvements to the game’s performance will be coming in the upcoming weeks.
Moreover, they stated that the update will only be the first part of a multifaceted plan for CPU and GPU-related optimizations. This could mean that more updates will be coming to address MH Wilds’ performance issues in 2026. A second stage that aims to mitigate performance issues was stated to follow after.

"To our hunters playing #MHWilds on PC, we're committed to listening to your feedback and improving both performance and stability of the game," reassured Capcom.

A Year in the Making

MH Wilds broke records, surpassing 8 million units sold in just 3 days, becoming Capcom’s fastest-selling game, but despite this, reviews were mixed as players faced numerous performance issues that led them to criticize the game for its "poor optimization". Performance had been a key issue Capcom’s been trying to fix even before MH Wilds’ release. Since its release, numerous updates have come out to gradually improve this issue.
It has been 6 months since MH Wilds’ release, and while some fans took this as good news, others were displeased to hear that the big optimization fix was only coming nearly a year after release. Before this announcement, MH Wilds' player count already began to drop 3 months after release to the point that its predecessor MH Worlds surpassed it.

"Nice to get some transparency but man that’s like [a] year after the game came out lol I do not know anyone on pc who can play the game at decent settings," said one fan on Twitter. "Took way too long for optimizations but at least they were not beating around the bush this time and acknowledged it," commented another on Reddit.
