Millennia is Free to Play Until February 12
Walk Through the Ages with Paradox’s Newest 4X Game
Hold on to your world maps, 4X fans, there’s a new kid on the block. As announced on the game’s official website, Millennia — Paradox Interactive’s newest entry to the 4X genre — is free to play from February 5-12, 2024 as part of Steam Next Fest.
Paradox Interactive first announced Millennia in September 2023, garnering plenty of attention from 4X fans around the world for its similarity to one of the genre’s staples, Sid Meier’s Civilization VI (Civ 6).
Although the game sought to differentiate itself from Civ 6 by following a non-branching tech tree and unique point-based progression system, 4X fans were abuzz about its usage of hex-based movement, production queues, and scouting parties — all mechanics famously popularized by the Civilization Series.
Paradox Interactive is known for its legendary titles in the 4X, city-builder, and RTS genres which include Stellaris, Crusader Kings, Europa Universalis, Prison Architect, Surviving the Aftermath, and 2023’s Cities: Skylines 2.
