During the June 2024 Nintendo Direct, Nintendo revealed a brand-new Mario & Luigi RPG titled "Mario & Luigi: Brothership&.quot; This became the first new entry in the series in almost six years. Following the bankruptcy of the series’ original developer, fans have been eager to know which studio is leading the new game. A Nintendo representative reportedly told the site Game File on Saturday that "some of the original developers who worked on the franchise are involved in the development of Mario & Luigi: Brothership."
According to VGC, notable former AlphaDream members who continued their work at Nintendo include Hiroyuki Kubota, now with Monolith Soft, a Nintendo-owned studio, and Yoshihiko Maekawa, who recently supervised the Switch version of Super Mario RPG.

Despite this, Nintendo kept the specific details of the development team under wraps, with the representative suggesting fans will need to "wait and see the game credits at release." At the time of writing, Nintendo has not announced or confirmed the developer leading the game.
Speculation is rife among the fanbase, with theories circulating online about potential developers. One prevalent speculation is that ILCA, known for their work on Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, might be involved in the new Mario & Luigi title.
