A new bluetooth gaming controller that promises to significantly reduce latency and input lag is getting released via a collaboration between Razer and electronics company LG. Razer has teamed up with LG and Mediatek to develop this new Bluetooth controller aimed at cloud-based gaming. According to LG, this will be the world's first "Bluetooth Ultra-Low Latency (BT ULL) Controller" that clocks in game-changing 1ms input lag.

The controller is currently in-development and the technology was showcased at LG webOS Summit 2024 on September 27. The companies demonstrated the BT ULL-enabled Bluetooth game controller at the event and compared it to a standard controller. Per Razer and LG, the wireless controller showed "superior responsiveness, reduced input lag and control precision" when it was demoed with cloud-based games, "including FPS, fighting, and racing titles," LG said in its news post. The BT ULL controller has no announced release date and price yet, let alone an official name. It's expected that more information arrives next year when LG showcases a new line of products in January 2025.

In general, for gamers, latency on wireless controllers that average around 40-100 millisecond delays are considered really bad and will result in a poor gameplay experience. Higher latencies result in noticeable lags between your command input on the controller and what happens on screen. If the BT ULL controller manages to consistently clock in only 1ms delay, this Bluetooth controller from the LG x Razer collab would truly be a "game-changer."
