The showcase, according to its official social media post, "will share an in-depth look at Highguard direct from the studio, featuring a full gameplay deep dive, year one plans, and much more."
Since its major reveal at The Game Awards, not much was known about Highguard apart from it being a hero-shooter and its 2-minute-37-seconds trailer. It shows brief snippets of its first-person shooter gameplay, including what looks like mounted combat and a few notable abilities showcased from its colorful roster of characters.
The launch event promises to explore these gameplay elements in full-detail. Apart from that, players can also expect the game’s first roadmap for the entire 2026. This could potentially include new heroes, maps, game modes, and other extra content that benefits its live-service roots.
Early Impressions From Content Creators

Prior to its official launch, many assumed that Highguard was not a real game as it barely had any marketing apart from the big The Game Awards trailer. However, evidence was already sprouting that the game was on track for its release date after confirmed reports on Steam’s backend on SteamDB, which indicates activity. A few hours after its discovery, Wildlight Entertainment announced its big January 26 showcase, indicating that its marketing push was deliberately saved for launch day all along.
In an official Instagram post, Highguard invited select influencers with experience of first-person shooters like Overwatch, Marvel Rivals, and Valorant to a closed-play event. The common consensus was they were enjoying Highguard, with notable praises to its gunplay and competitive aspect.
Other creators, like AfroSenjuXL, known for his Dark Souls and other FromSoftware Twitch streams, was impressed with the game’s mounted combat, which he believed was "weird" for a hero-shooter mostly rooted in ground-based firefights. Former Valorant and Counter-Strike player TenZ also attended the event. He praised the game and said, "It feels similar to battle royales, but with constant action."

Even Geoff Keighley himself, who marketed Highguard at The Game Awards, believes that the game will succeed. In his recent X (formerly Twitter) post, he posted a GIF with a text saying, "In 48 hours, I’ll be accepting your apologies." This alludes to the negative backlash Highguard received during its reveal, as players often compared it to the game Concord, which was notorious for being a game that shut down two weeks after launch.
There is less than 24 hours before Highguard releases on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. Wildlight Entertainment stands at a defining moment. If the early impressions from content creators are any indication, then the game’s quiet buildup might pay off.
