GTA 6 Releasing In Fall 2025

Earnings Call Reports On Highs And Lows

Rockstar Games’ parent company Take-Two Interactive narrows down GTA 6’s release from Year 2025 to Fall of 2025, following "positive momentum" in entering the new fiscal year. Take-Two ended fiscal year 2024 last March 24th, and reported "strong fourth quarter results" with Net Bookings of $1.35 billion USD, ending the fiscal year with a total of $5.33 billion USD annual Net Bookings. Major franchises such as NBA 2K24, the Red Dead Redemption series, mobile ports such as Toon Blast and Match Factory!, and the Grand Theft Auto series contributed to this high performance.

While total Net Bookings increased by 1 percent from the previous fiscal year with 78% of that from recurrent consumer spending, GAAP net revenue was flat at $5.35 billion. GAAP net loss was at $3.74 billion USD compared to last year’s $1.12 billion. These reported results counted for impairment charges for goodwill ($2.34 billion), acquisition-related intangible assets ($577.4 million), and business reorganization expenses related to cost-reduction ($104.6 million).

In relation to the acquisition, Take-Two just purchased Borderlands developer Gearbox from the Embracer Group last March for $460 million. Weeks after that, the company moved forward with its ongoing cost-reduction strategy by reducing its headcount by 5 percent. This decision was made as Take-Two wanted to "identify efficiencies across its business and enhance the company’s margin profile, while still investing for growth."

Even with these supposed downturns, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick says "We feel like we’re in a very good place now," in a Variety interview. "Our three-part strategy is to be the most creative, most efficient and the most innovative company in the entertainment business. We don’t always get there, but we certainly do try. This puts us in (on) a very sound footing from an efficiency point of view."

Fans Anticipate GTA 6

Grand Theft Auto Online and Grand Theft Auto V still enjoy continued success as fans wait eagerly for the next installment. Despite being over a decade old, GTA V recently just celebrated an amazing feat with over 200 million copies sold. This was a 5 million increase from the February 2024 financial report. Interest is as high as ever, and Take-Two is thrilled.

"We are highly confident that Rockstar Games will deliver an unparalleled entertainment experience," says Zelnick. GTA V is the second best-selling game of all time in the United States, and its audience will continue to increase as GTA VI inches closer to full release.
