GTA 5 Actor Expects GTA 6 to Make $1.3 Billion On Its First Day

GTA 5 actor Ned Luke, voice of Michael De Santa, said that he expects GTA 6 to make $1.3 billion on its first day. In an interview with the YouTube channel Fall Damage, Luke shared his thoughts on the upcoming GTA 6. He said that the game would be fantastic as no one ever knows what to expect with what Rockstar Games is up to.

Luke reaffirmed "What I tell people is, be patient. It's going to be worth the wait. From what I've seen, it's going to be amazing." He also mentioned that GTA 5 earned over $800 million in its first 24 hours in 2013 when it was released, and said that GTA 6 would blow GTA 5’s numbers away.

Based on DFC Intelligence, the research company projects GTA 6 to sell over 40 million copies and earn $3.2 billion in the game’s first year, with $1 billion coming purely from pre-orders.

The Future Of GTA 5 Characters In GTA 6

Luke also gave his insights about the characters of GTA 5 appearing in GTA Online and potentially in GTA 6. He mentioned that his character, Michael, has not been part of GTA Online since its launch, while the two other protagonists, Trevor and Franklin, have appeared in the game.

Luke teased fans about Michael potentially appearing in a speculated final DLC for GTA Online, or even showing up in GTA 6. Steven Ogg, who played Trevor in GTA 5, spoke with ScreenRant in January 2025 about his ideal scenario for Trevor in GTA 6, getting killed at the beginning as some sort of "passing the torch" moment in the series.

"Maybe [Michael, Franklin, and Trevor will be] in GTA 6, like [its online mode]. Maybe. Maybe not. You know Rockstar is not going to tell you anything. And if we say anything, you know they will not be very happy" Luke said. Despite both actors being enthusiastic about reprising their roles in GTA 6, no official announcement has been made if those characters will appear in GTA 6.

GTA 6 May Be At Its Testing Phase

Former Rockstar Games Animator Mike York said that GTA 6 is likely in its in-house testing phase. According to GamesRadar, in a now-deleted video interview with YouTuber Kiwi Talkz, York talked about how GTA 6 will be unlike any other games, and where the development may be at this point.

York said that GTA 6 is unlike any other open-world game because of its unpredictability. "There are a lot of things that can happen that you don't really think about until some random kid in his basement tries it, you know? You really don't" he said.

York believes that GTA 6 is likely now getting tested at an in-house level.

"They're probably still putting in a little work and throwing in little extras."

York also mentioned that the game could at least be playable at this point, and speculated that many testers may have already gone through it.

Rockstar Games first revealed GTA 6 with a trailer in December 2023 and since then, the company has not shared any information about the game. It was previously reported that GTA 6 is slated for a Fall 2025 release based on Rockstar Games’ parent company Take-Two Interactive’s Financial Report in 2024. However, there are no official announcements regarding a specific release date for GTA 6.
