FF16 PC Struggles with Performance, Even on High-End Hardware
Just yesterday, Final Fantasy 16’s Naoki Yoshida politely asked fans to refrain from making "offensive or inappropriate" mods on PC. However, mods seem to be the least of their worries, as even the most powerful graphics cards seem to be struggling to keep up with Final Fantasy 16’s demand on PC. While PC gamers were eagerly anticipating experiencing the title in all its graphical glory at 4K resolution and 60 fps, recent benchmarks indicate that this might not be achievable even with the top-of-the-line NVIDIA RTX 4090 graphics card.
According to John Papadopoulos of DSOGaming, achieving a consistent 60 fps at native 4K resolution with maxed out settings appears to be a challenge for Final Fantasy 16 on PC. This is surprising news considering the RTX 4090 is one of the most powerful consumer graphics cards available on the market.
However, there is a glimmer of hope for PC players. Enabling DLSS 3 Frame Generation with DLAA can reportedly boost frame rates over 80 fps at all times. DLSS 3 is a new technology from NVIDIA that uses AI to generate additional frames, essentially creating smoother gameplay. DLAA, on the other hand, is an anti-aliasing technique that can improve image quality without sacrificing performance as much as traditional anti-aliasing methods.

FF16 on PS5 Faces a New Challenge: Graphical Glitches
While Final Fantasy 16 has been receiving its fair share of problems on PC, PlayStation 5 players have been facing a new kind of challenge: a graphical glitch that engulfs the screen in darkness, quite literally chasing players throughout the world.
According to reports on social media and gaming forums, players have described the issue as a black fog that makes it difficult to see enemies and navigate the environment. In some cases, the darkness reportedly persists even during cutscenes and menus. Beyond these, players have also reported other graphical glitches, including flickering textures, distorted character models, and the occasional frame rate drops. While these issues may not be as severe as the all-encompassing darkness, they can still be disruptive and immersion-breaking.
The cause of these graphical glitches remains unknown, but many players point to the recent PS5 system update as a potential culprit. Some have even playfully suggested that Sony is intentionally causing these issues to encourage players to upgrade to the PS5 Pro.
While the situation has been met with humor, with players sharing screenshots of Clive’s eyes and body glowing eerily in the dark, it’s essential that a solution is found soon, so Players can continue their quests in Valisthea without being chased by an in-game darkness that wasn’t intended by the developers.
