FF7 Remake Trilogy Co-Director Drops Hints About Finale
Speaking to Famitsu in a recent interview, game director Motomu Toriyama commented on an aspect of the upcoming final installment in the Final Fantasy 7 (FF7) Remake trilogy which may leave room for a prospective character to be heavily featured in the game. "I'm also part of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake Project’s finale," he started after noting that his time is split between the FF7 Remake Trilogy finale and FF7 Ever Crisis, "so, sometimes I confuse things. If someone [asks about] 'Highwind,' my head just goes: 'Which one?'"
In Final Fantasy lore, the "Highwind" refers to the Highwind airship, the iconic airship which has been confirmed to be reintroduced in the trilogy's third and final game. It also refers to "Cid Highwind," one of the recurring characters in the Final Fantasy franchise, and, as the name suggests, the owner of the famed Highwind airship.
Along with the Highwind airship set to make a grand appearance in the finale, it is expected that Cid might very well likewise play a larger role in the game—possibly even getting his backstory more fleshed out in the finale. Though, nothing has been confirmed, but we can expect to hear more from the FF7 Remake Trilogy team during FF7 Ever Crisis' 2nd anniversary this month. "By then, we may share more information regarding the finale of the FF7 Remake Project," Toriyama told the news site.
