Fallout Live-Action Series Gets 65 Million Viewers In Its First 2 Weeks

Already Getting a Second Season

In its first 16 days of being released, the live-action video game adaptation of Bethesda’s Fallout was able to pull in a record number of 65 million viewers. This made the TV series the second most-watched title on Amazon Prime, losing only to "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power" which was released back in 2022. According to Amazon, the majority of the audience is aged 18-34 with 60% of them coming from outside of the US.

The TV series is set more than 200 years after the "Great War" which happens in 2077, specifically in the year 2296. Comparatively, the events of the latest game in the series, Fallout 4, happen in 2287. Additionally, Fallout: New Vegas’ events happen in the year 2281. This means the TV series is set 9-10 years after what happened in the Commonwealth and a full 15 years after the events of the Mojave Wasteland.

But what do the critics have to say about the series? It turns out the series is also quite popular and received well, with a score of 93% on Rotten Tomatoes as of writing. It’s so successful that it’s already getting a second season following its ending, which sent fans into a frenzy (if you know, you know).

Bethesda Launches Next-Gen Update for Fallout 4

With the series' newfound popularity, Bethesda looked to cash in by updating the 9-year-old game with "next-generation" updates, which promised to bring new life into the game. The update came with a new Quality and Performance mode, widescreen support, and 3 free Creation Club items for all players. This, however, led to a lot of public scrutiny by the community by breaking many of the players’ installed mods to fix many of its problems, which are now in need of an update to match the game’s current version, as well as the update not delivering on its promises.

In classic Bethesda fashion, they managed to shoot themselves in the foot by updating an almost-decade-old game to "next-gen" resulting in missing textures, similar bugs, and crashes on both consoles and PC platforms.
