Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Developer Thoughts On Their Next Title
No To Large-Scale Development

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 developer Sandfall Interactive will continue to trust their vision for their next title, retaining the size of their team and staying hands-on throughout the development. In the February 2026 issue of EDGE Magazine, members of the Expedition 33 team shared their thoughts on what’s next for the French studio.
With the overwhelming success of their debut title, Sandfall Interactive now has enough resources to pursue large-scale developments. However, Creative Director Guillaume Broche noted that having limitations will push them to think outside of the box and become the best versions of themselves.

"We could scale up now [that] we have a lot more money, but I would say it’s not tempting for us, because even the management team and myself, we’d have to be hands-on and doing things for ourselves," he said.
Although Sandfall Interactive plans to stick to its roots, Broche previously stated that their next game will not follow the same formula as Expedition 33. However, he promised that their follow-up project will "feel authentic, and made with love."
A Bit of Pressure

After sweeping multiple awards and earning widespread acclaim as the best title of 2025, the developers admitted to feeling some pressure to deliver a worthy successor. Producer François Meurisse emphasized that although the next project requires intense focus, the team's growth and experience ensure they are ready to create something great.
Meanwhile, composer Lorien Testard does not feel pressure as he’s enjoying the whole process of writing music for their next project. For Lead Writer Jennifer Svedberg-Yen, she knows that they now have huge expectations from their fans and wants to reach them.
She admitted that she is a bit of a people pleaser, and that the pressure has been at the back of her mind. However, Svedberg-Yen remains confident that their "North Star" or personal taste will continue to guide them to create something that they think is cool.
The lead writer also mentioned that she has seen many TV shows or books be influenced by public opinion, which ends up losing their core identity. "So [we] feel like we need to trust our instincts and continue to trust the vision behind the studio," Svedberg-Yen said.

Sandfall Interactive has yet to discuss anything specific about their future projects, but guaranteed fans that there will be another video game for sure. In the meantime, players can enjoy Expedition 33 with its most recent "Thank You" update that added more endgame content and quality-of-life improvements to the game.
