Elden Ring: Nightreign DLC Unofficially Revealed
FromSoftware Isn’t Done With Elden Ring: Nightreign Yet

Elden Ring Nightreign will release a paid DLC around March 2026, confirmed by FromSoftware parent company, Kadokawa. While not an official announcement directly from the developers themselves, the information comes from in their Q2 Fiscal Year 2025 Earnings Results, which sets the release at "the end of Fiscal Year 2025." Given that Japan’s 2026 fiscal year starts April 1st, 2026, this would make its release date somewhere around March 2026 at the latest.
This news comes on the heels of the game’s sales numbers, where, according to Kodakawa, it "performed well beyond initial expectations." While the company hasn't disclosed recent sales figures, FromSoftware reported that Nightreign sold 5 million units within a month of its release. To this end, Kadokawa reports that more steps will be taken to ensure the DLC promotes "future sales growth," though additional content details are scarce.

Elden Ring Nightreign is the latest release from FromSoftware, and is an online multiplayer spinoff of the original Elden Ring. With Elden Ring being touted by critics and fans alike as one of the greatest games of the decade, Nightreign takes it into an entirely new direction with the co-op multiplayer, roguelike elements, and brand new bosses.
In our review, we gave Elden Ring: Nightreign a score of 84, praising it for its engaging multiplayer, intricate map design, and diverse roster of character classes, while criticizing the lack of cross-platform multiplayer and tedious single-player experience. Read our review here:
FromSoftware's Future Development Plans

In aiming for further sales growth for the Elden Ring franchise, Kadokawa also mentioned several titles currently being in development. This includes the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Elden Ring, Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition, which had its release date recently pushed back to 2026 to prioritize optimizing its performance.
Kadokawa also confirmed that the Switch 2 exclusive The Duskbloods is still in development, though no official release date has been confirmed yet. While not much has been revealed about The Duskbloods, game director Hidetaka Miyazaki previously mentioned in an interview with Nintendo that the game will be an online multiplayer game where players will control the "Bloodsworn," warriors with superhuman abilities gained through a special kind of blood.

Miyazaki noted that, even if their latest releases are multiplayer titles with Elden Ring Nightreign and The Duskbloods, their focus will not shift primarily to co-op games and will continue to develop single-player projects.
Elden Ring Nightreign is out now for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam. For more on the game, check out our article below!
