Diablo 4 Prepares for Massive Loot Rework with Public Playtesting

Season 4 PTR Expected in the Coming Weeks

During the Season 3 Campfire Chat live stream yesterday, Blizzard revealed that they will be hosting a public test realm (PTR) for Diablo ahead of its Season 4 launch. While specific details about the Season 4 updates were not discussed, the developers mentioned making adjustments to stats and rewards, reworking the game's loot system, as well as more updates to the Necromancer class.

Diablo has hosted PTRs before for Diablo 2 and 3, however, it has been notably absent in Diablo 4 for the previous three seasons. The Season 4 PTR will launch in the coming weeks and will be exclusive to the Battle.net version of the game on PC.

Players will be able to provide feedback before Season 4's official rollout in April. Further details about the PTR and Season 4 will be provided in upcoming Campfire Chat livestreams. Only some seasons will receive a PTR, however, as "It depends on the scale of changes that we have," noted Blizzard.

Season 3 Mid-Season Update

Moreover, Blizzard delved into the upcoming mid-season patch for Diablo 4's Season 3, set to launch next week, March 5. The patch introduces several class balance updates and reintroduces updated vampiric powers from the Season of Blood as Legendary Aspects—gear enhancements that augment skills and abilities.

The powers that are returning are:
 ●  Accursed Touch
 ●  Blood Boil
 ●  Hectic
 ●  Metamorphosis
 ●  Moonrise
 ●  Undying

These Legendary Aspects drop from all enemies in any in-game regions.

Additionally, the mid-season patch introduces a new weekly challenge called the Gauntlet where players can go on Solo Class, Party, Normal, and Hardcore dungeon challenges and compete for top positions on the Leaderboards. The Gauntlet will be accessible upon reaching World Tier IV, but expect enemies to be beyond level 100.

To up the ante, though you can respawn upon dying in the Gauntlet, a third of your score will be lost each time you die. The Gauntlet concludes each Tuesday, 8:00AM PST / 11:00 AM EST, with the next completely different Gauntlet going live at 10:15AM PST / 1:15PM EST on the same day.
