Publisher Yen Press announced today that it will release the English version of the official Dark Souls spinoff manga, Dark Souls: Redemption, this summer.
Set to release on August 27, 2024, the manga will be available in paperback and in digital format. It is written by Julien Blondel, author of highly-rated works such as the comic book adaptations of Michael Moorcock’s Elric series, and illustrated by artist Shonen, the mind behind French manga Outlaw Players and BB Project. The book will retail at $15.00 USDfor the paperback edition and $6.99 USD for the digital edition. The original French version of the work will be released first on June 6, under publisher Mana Books.
- While there’s no trailer for the English version just yet, Mana Books released a trailer for the French release.
The manga will follow the tale of a nameless woman who is resurrected from her eternal sleep, but with no memory of her past. She sets out into the barren and unfamiliar world around her, followed by a mysterious protector who, bound by an oath and his honor, safeguards her from the treacherous dangers that lurk and pursue her. While she attempts to remember what she once held dear, a group called the Gray Cinders gather in their tower, tasked to revive a colossus, incarnate of death. This scourge from bygone days bids its return to cause chaos and unrest. The fate of this land may just be left to the hands of the enigmatic woman and her guardian.
As a sister company to FromSoftware, Yen Press handles other IPs as well. It has published the manga Sekiro Side Story: Hanbei the Undying and Elden Ring: The Road to the Erdtree, and the novel Dark Souls: Masque of Vindication.
Whether you fancy yourself a manga or novel, touted as a "must-have for any FromSoftware fans," Dark Souls: Redemption will surely bring its readers back into the haunting, and macabre world of Dark Souls.
