Cyberpunk 2077 Addresses Fifth Anniversary Rumors
Dismisses Adding New Content

Cyberpunk 2077 announced that they will not be adding new content for the game’s upcoming fifth anniversary. Despite repeated statements confirming that there will be no further updates, speculation remained high among fans for a potential new update tease as the December 10, 2020 launch anniversary approaches. However, the theories were quickly shut down by CD Projekt Red’s global community director, Marcin Momot.
"We’re not teasing anything. This is our monthly post announcing character birthdays, which we publish every 30 days. This time we also included the game’s anniversary info, but it’s not a teaser. Hope this clears things up!" said Momot, on Twitter (X).
Under their own post, the official Cyberpunk 2077 account also responded, "-can't post anything wholesome without wild conspiracy theories forming around it these days."

The rumors began when the official Twitter (X) account of Cyberpunk 2077 posted a calendar for the game’s anniversary and characters’ birthdays in December 2025. Part of the community took the announcement seriously as a cryptic message. With players speculating that an upcoming teaser is on the way, fans on social media began to theorize hints regarding the official post, only to be debunked later on.
Another instance like this occurred last September, wherein the team also had to dismiss rumors about a possible update from a seemingly cryptic tweet, that fans thought to be a hint for new content.
While CD Projekt Red isn’t a stranger to its community speculating about their announcements, they take it upon themselves to be active in addressing and dispelling rumors about their projects.
Fans Still Expect Updates

Despite the official confirmations given, many fans remain hopeful for new content from CD Projekt Red. Especially with The Witcher 4's nomination at The Game Awards 2025, the team will likely make an appearance. As the awards show is airing on December 11th, a day after Cyberpunk 2077’s timely anniversary, players still suspect a surprise reveal.
Though the group has also stated there will be no new teasers for The Witcher 4's development progress, their community continues to anticipate updates regarding Cyberpunk 2 instead. Currently, reports confirm that only the sequel is in the pre-production phase, and further updates on the project are being kept heavily under wraps.
Based on the team’s statements, fans might have to lower their expectations for major updates or reveals from the developers. Although they’ve consistently reassured the public that development is ongoing, the team has also repeatedly dismissed the possibility of new content being teased in the near future.
