505 Games Closes Offices in Spain, France, and Germany
Layoff Reportedly Affects 10 Employees
According to reports from the news site Gamereactor, 505 Games decided to close its offices in Germany, Spain, and France. While the exact number of affected employees was not confirmed, initial reports suggest that the closures will impact around ten employees. The offices primarily handled marketing, communications, and relations of 505 Games.
In response to inquiries about the closures, 505 Games clarified to news site Eurogamer that the closure of these European offices is a continuation of this ongoing process of streamlining operations within the company. 505 Games parent company, Digital Bros, announced an organizational review last year that impacted approximately 30% of its workforce.
Remedy Entertainment Buys Control Series From 505 Games
Coinciding with the reports of the office closures, Alan Wake developer Remedy Entertainment announced this week that it had acquired the full rights to the Control series from publisher 505 Games. "For Control 2 and codename Condor, all publishing, distribution, marketing, and other rights licensed to 505 Games revert to Remedy with immediate effect," read Remedy's statement.
Per the company's January-September 2023 business review, Control 2 is in its proof-of-concept stage. The company stated it will continue at this stage of development for the next few quarters this year.
