Devs’ Honest about Upcoming Oct. 24 Release
Cities: Skylines II’s developers, Colossal Order and Paradox Entertainment open up about possible performance issues and considerable changes in the game’s modding support upon launch. In their recent dev updates, the team admits that the upcoming game "have not yet achieved the benchmarked we [they] targeted." Further explaining,Cities: Skylines 2 is a next-gen title that demands better hardware.
However, despite this setback, the devs have decided to push through with the Oct. 24 release date, stating that releasing now is the best way forward. They promise to improve the game post-launch and reiterate their commitment to ensuring that the most-awaited sequel reaches its full potential.
Steam Workshop is Out, Paradox Mods is In
Cities: Skylines II will introduce a new modding portal for players, doing away with Steam Workshop and adapting Paradox Mods instead. The first Skylines game had over 400,000 mods in Steam Workshop on PC before this huge change. However, the devs chose Paradox Mods to be able to accommodate modding support to all players across all platforms.
The editor and modding tool is still in testing phase, with the devs promising to offer technical and community support in the game’s lifetime.
