CES 2024 Game Technology

RTX 40 Super Series Graphic Cards

Nvidia just announced the RTX 40 Super Series of graphic cards in CES 2024 after months of rumors surrounding it. The three graphics cards to be released are the RTX 4080 Super, the RTX 4070 Ti Super, and the RTX 4070 Super. This is the first Super line of GPUs since its debut in 2019.

These three are very powerful pieces of hardware, with the 4080 Super being able to provide its users with quality 4K gaming and perform twice as well as the RTX 3080 Ti graphics card, the RTX 4070 Ti Super being great for a high-end 1440p experience at 2.5 times better performance than the 3070 Ti, and finally, the RTX 4070 Super as the mid-range 1440p entry for this line. All three products will be released this month, with the RTX 4070 Super being $599, the RTX 4070 Ti Super being $799, and the RTX 4080 Super being $999.

These three graphics cards will replace the base counterparts of the 40 series: the RTX 4080, RTX 4070 Ti, and RTX 4070.

The brand new MSI Claw was just unveiled during the event and may just be giving the king of handheld gaming PCs, the Steam Deck, a run for its money.

According to MSI, The MSI Claw is powered by an Intel Core Ultra processor, which is the same thing that runs today’s new AI laptops. Like the laptops, the Claw uses advanced AI upscaling algorithms to increase the frames per second (FPS). It’s also supposed to have a battery capacity of 53Whr (vs. Steam Deck’s 40Whr). It features a 7-inch display that can run games at 120Hz (vs. Steam Deck’s 60Hz) and 1920x1080 (vs. Steam Deck’s 1280x800) resolutions.

This was the Steam Deck competitor that was previously teased by MSI a few days ago.

More Sony Television Adaptations

Sony looks to build up on the successful television adaptations of Sony spotlight games, namely, HBO’s The Last of Us and Peacock’s Twisted Metal. The two were major successes, especially the former, which won multiple awards. Both series were renewed for 2nd seasons.

“The Last of Us generated tremendous interest from both gamers and non-gamers alike. It was the second most watched HBO series premiere in 13 years. As of this past weekend, The Last of Us has already won eight Emmy awards and is up for five more, including Best Drama Series," says Katherine Pope, the president of Sony Pictures Television Studio. “Twisted Metal was also released last year and became one of the top five original series launched on Peacock to date.”

Pope went on to announce during the event that there were two new film adaptations of Sony games that are already being written. Prime Video will have a God of War series, while Netflix will have a Horizon Zero Dawn adaptation. Finally, Sony CEO Kenichiro Yoshida brought attention to Nintendo and Sony’s partnership for the upcoming Legend of Zelda live-action film adaptation.
