The gaming giant recently posted its full financial report for the 2023-2024 fiscal year, reporting impressive, record-high figures that underscore Capcom's resilience and continued growth in a challenging industry landscape. As of March 31, 2024, Capcom reported net sales of 152.4 million yen (approximately $977 million), denoting a 21% increase from the previous fiscal year and setting a new record high for the company.

Capcom's upward trend in sales also marked the company's seventh consecutive year of record-high profits and its 11th consecutive year of operating income growth, totaling 57.081 million yen (approximately $367 million), up by 12.3% from last year.

The company attributed its astral performance to the successful launches of major hit titles, Street Fighter 6 (SF6), which released in June 2023, and Dragon’s Dogma 2 (DD2) in March 2024. SF6 garnered sales of over 3.3 million units, while DD2 managed to sell 2.62 million units in just a few months. As noted by Capcom, these titles, along with continued sales of older games, helped the company reach record-high net sales and profit across all levels.

Additionally, Resident Evil 4 Remake was mentioned as a significant driver of success, accumulating 7.02 million units in sales and bringing the franchise's total to 36.29 million copies sold. In total, Capcom's video game business this year earned net sales of 119,841 million yen (approximately $770 million), up by 22.1% from last year.

Looking ahead, Capcom remained optimistic about its future, already setting the stage for its eighth consecutive year of growth, with highly anticipated releases such as Monster Hunter Wilds on the horizon. The MonHun franchise continues to thrive, with 25.32 million units sold to date, propelled by successful releases like Monster Hunter Rise and Monster Hunter World. Moreover, it is heavily speculated that the company will release Resident Evil 9 next year at the earliest.

Despite the challenges facing the video game industry, marred by waves of layoffs and studio closures, Capcom continues to stand strong. Without capping on the company staff spendings, Capcom stated in its report that it will continue to expand its human resources investment strategy and make further improvements to its workplace environment.
