Battlefield 6 Beta Aftermath Results in Massive Player Numbers
Over 420 Million Matches and 92 Million Hours of Gameplay
Battlefield 6 had the best beta in franchise history, amassing huge player numbers and generating millions of matches during both beta weekends. In a Twitter (X) post by Battlefield Comms, the official account of Battlefield’s community team, they stated that the Battlefield 6 beta set a "new franchise record for most players in Battlefield beta history."
According to them, the beta held over 420 million matches and 92 million hours of gameplay. It was also streamed for 600,000 hours and was watched for 30 million hours. In comparison, Battlefield 2042’s beta peaked at over 150,000 players based on its SteamDB charts, while Battlefield 6’s beta had over 500,000 concurrent players.
The numbers alone indicate that fans are excited and hyped for the new title of EA’s flagship first-person shooter. Here at Game8, we thought that the beta showcased the game’s strong foundation, with some chinks that can easily be resolved before its full release. Changes Based on Feedback

Aside from celebrating their monumental success, the developers shared some of their learnings from the beta and the upcoming changes they will make for the game. These changes will be reflected in Battlefield 6’s official release and are based on community feedback and in-game data.
Based on the debrief from the Battlefield 6 Open Beta, some aspects the team is looking to improve include weapons, movement, maps, modes, player counts, and playlist options.
For weapon adjustments, the developers seek to create a more consistent and rewarding gunplay experience. A general pass on recoil and tap-fire characteristics is being done to emphasize unique weapon feel and improve range differentiation, with the goal of rewarding precision over automatic spraying.

Meanwhile, movement mechanics are being adjusted to provide a more balanced and traditional Battlefield experience. This includes reducing the horizontal speed gained from sliding into a jump and imposing a greater penalty for consecutive jumps.
Additionally, firing while jumping or sliding will result in increased inaccuracy. These changes are designed to make sliding and jumping more situational, rather than an ideal option for gunfights, and to promote a gameplay pace that is not too fast or unpredictable.
Another aspect that the developers highlighted was the variety of maps, as most players noticed that the available maps were too small and the pacing felt too fast. In a response to a fan’s comment on his Twitter (X) post on August 12, Battlefield Lead Producer David Sirland assured the community that there are larger maps in the full game.
He stated, "Speed is a factor of map size. We picked these maps to make sure we hit the full-octane version of Battlefield on the head - and made everyone see we can handle that too." Moreover, the developers are also working to prevent players from accessing unintended, out-of-bounds areas on the existing maps.
Other adjustments mentioned include changes to the player count in Rush mode to improve game flow, map-by-map balancing, keeping Open and Closed Weapons options easily accessible at launch, and more. These changes will be introduced in upcoming Battlefield Labs events and will be shared in future progress updates.
Road to Battlefield 6
For those who can’t get enough of the Battlefield 6 beta, EA is currently running the "Road to Battlefield 6" event within Battlefield 2042, which rewards players with a bunch of exclusive in-game items that can be carried over to Battlefield 6. This official event runs from August 18 to October 7, and aims to revitalize the game’s player base and build momentum for the upcoming title.
This initiative includes a free battle pass with 60 tiers of rewards, which are a mix of cosmetic items for Battlefield 2042 and exclusive items for the upcoming Battlefield 6, such as character skins and vehicle camos. The campaign also adds new weapons, such as the KFS2000 assault rifle and the Lynx sniper rifle, two attack jets with A10 Warthog and SU-25TM Frogfoot, and the return of the classic Iwo Jima map, reimagined.
As Battlefield 6 ramps up closer to its release, EA continues its effort to generate excitement for the latest installment of its beloved multiplayer shooter. Battlefield 6 is set to launch on October 10, 2025, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Steam, Epic Games, and EA App. To stay up to date with the latest information about the game, check out our article below!
