The Battlefield 6 team has recently clarified that the presence of AI soldiers will be limited to the game’s training mode. Read on to learn more about the statement and what else the devs have planned for players.
Battlefield 6 AI Soldiers Present During Training
But Players Can Choose to Remove Them in Breakthrough Mode
Battlefield 6's official Twitter (X) account, Battlefield Comms, created a post August 7, 2025, clarifying the presence of AI bots in the game. The Battlefield 6 team stated that AI soldiers would only be present on "Training Grounds playlists within the Open Beta," alleviating some qualms about their possible effect on the gameplay.
In an effort to address concerns about underpopulated servers, Battlefield 6 developers DICE announced that they would be using AI bots to help populate them.
The Battlefield team specified that AI soldiers would only be present in the Breakthrough Initiation playlist. For those unaware, playlists contain game modes or campaigns that players can go through in succession. Playlists can also have different rotations of game modes. "The Breakthrough Initiation playlist"—and by extension, the "Training Grounds" playlists—are designed to prime players for Breakthrough.

According to the official EA website, "In Breakthrough, the map is divided into sectors that players battle over one at a time. Attackers push the frontline forward. Defenders hold the line of battle. To secure a sector, attackers must hold all control points within it at the same time." Given the nature of Breakthrough gameplay, it makes sense why DICE would have to throw in bots for players to battle with.
Not everyone is amenable to playing with dense enemy AI populations; other games such as PUBG and Call of Duty: Warfare are often used as examples wherein bots can ruin the thrill of the game.
Luckily, the Battlefield 6 team also prepared a solution. Once players exceed Rank 15 and move on from the Training Grounds playlists, they can play Breakthrough mode without the presence of these AI bots. In order to opt out of sharing a map with them, players can select Breakthrough mode "from the ‘Featured’ playlist row," according to Battlefield Comms.
Larger Maps to Come and More Problems to Tackle
Aside from the concerns about the AI soldiers, players sent in more feedback on their experiences with the August 9-10 open beta run. Some cited chaotic and fast campaigns as well as maps that are smaller than they ought to be.
The Battlefield series' Lead Producer, David Sirland, responded to one of these players, saying, "Speed is a factor of map size. We picked these maps to make sure we hit the full-octane version of Battlefield on the head—and made everyone see we can handle that too." Sirland also took the chance to leave a bit of information for players to look forward to:
"Large maps exist," he declared, "and the tempo scales accordingly, you'll be able to see soon enough!"

Other complaints include potential cheaters, underwhelming physics and animations, clunky UI, substandard vehicle controls, and an underutilized closed weapons system. With a few more months in between the last open beta and the game’s official release, players are hoping that the devs will be able to fix these problems in time.
Battlefield 6 is set to release on October 10, 2025 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. To stay up to date with the latest information about the game, check out our article below!
