Atomfall News

2025

August 29

⚫︎ Atomfall continues to add more content to the game with its upcoming "The Red Strain" story expansion coming on September 16. This new expansion features an industrial facility surrounded by "strange red foliage" which may be the source of the red strain.

June 2

⚫︎ Atomfall's map grows with The Wicked Isle DLC, introducing Midsummer Island, an offshore area that leans heavily into the game's folk horror themes. Players will face numerous druids and at least one wicker man, while exploring new spots such as a ruined abbey and a pub called the Jolly Angler.

May 21

⚫︎ Atomfall has been an immediately profitable success for its developer, Rebellion, leading to discussions about a possible sequel. Released in March across PC, PlayStation, and Xbox, with availability on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass, the game quickly recouped its development costs. Rebellion's head, Jason Kingsley, attributed much of this success to its inclusion in Game Pass, which he noted does mitigate risk and ensures a certain level of income for the studio.

It was Rebellion's most successful launch ever, reaching 1.5 million players shortly after its release. Beyond the talks of a sequel or spin-offs, the studio also has DLC planned for the game. Players in Atomfall have collectively consumed 4 million pasties and 300,000 cups of tea within the game, highlighting its frightfully British charm.

April 19

⚫︎ The CEO of Rebellion, the developers behind Atomfall, expressed their desire to create more titles under the Atomfall IP, but the future is still uncertain as they must first look at the profit margins and find the budget to do so. Their ideas for the future has always been 2/3s a sequel, and 1/3 a new original IP, and seeing the success of a risky new title such as Atomfall, they must still carefully decide for the future of their studio.

April 11

⚫︎ Atomfall has sustained it high player count in its first few weeks, attaining a 2 million copies sold. Alongside the achievement, they reveal several other statistics from the game, such as the total number of caches found, kills with the cricket bat, and the most eaten food – 14 millions tins of meat.

April 2

⚫︎ Atomfall launched to monumental success, achieving 1.5 million players, and making the game development studio’s most successful title in over 32 years.

March 20

⚫︎ Atomfall’s Head of Design spoke with Game Rant to talk about the slowburn development of the game, full of "experimentation and faith" to develop its systems that resulted in their unique vision for Atomfall.
